END POVERTY IN CAMBODIA is the reason behind the latest field Visit from Axel van Trotsenburg, The World Bank‘s Regional Vice President for East Asia and Pacific to Cambodia.
“The World Bank looks forward to working with Cambodia to support the country’s efforts in reducing poverty and improving economic and social conditions for its people, especially in agriculture, health, education and transportation” said Axel van Trotsenburg.
From October 29 to November 3, van Trotsenburg met Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen and also high-level government officials, parliamentarians, civil society, and development partners to discuss how to improve the lives of Cambodians, especially the most vulnerable. He also visited World Bank-supported projects in Tbong Khmum and Siem Reap provinces to engage with beneficiary communities.
These field visits are the ones we were requested to cover, which we did with great pleasure, as it is always great to meet the great people in the rural areas of Cambodia.
“We saw firsthand that Cambodians can change their lives when they are given a chance, and this is very encouraging. They want to see more investments in rural development, health, education, transportation and other social services. The World Bank Group stands ready to support investments in these areas.” Axel van Trotsenburg.
